Bracker’s is excited to announce a hands-on workshop with Dan Gegen.  Dan is known for his elegant forms with contrasting textures.  In this workshop on January 19-20, 2013, Dan will demonstrate a variety of textures and forms.  (No, it’s not really JUST tiles, teabowls & trays, we just like alliteration.)

Participants will learn a variety of handbuilding techniques using textured slabs. We will begin by designing paper patterns to develop our forms. We will then explore different ways to create unique textures on clay slabs, so bring anything with you that has an interesting texture. Glazing and staining to enhance the surface textures and forms will also be covered in this two day workshop.

Bracker’s will open to participants at 9:30am and the workshop will begin at 10:00am and go through 5:00pm both days.

Dan Gegen earned his BFA from Wichita State University and his MFA from Arizona State University.  He currently teaches High School in the Maize school district and has been the 3-D coordinator and Ceramics instructor at the Wichita Center for the arts, an artist in residence  for the Wichita & Winfield Public Schools, an Adjunct Faculty member of Southwestern College & Friends University.  As a studio artist, Dan has been awarded several commissions in Wichita for large scale work.  His work has been featured in over a dozen books and articles and almost too many exhibitions to count (but I did – 41, if i counted correctly!).

Total Cost for this two-day workshop is $125.
