Our May Open Studio night on May 15th from 4 pm-7 pm is sure to be a don’t miss event! With so much to learn and try, we can barely fit it all into one blog post….But I’ll try of course 🙂
Our theme for this month will be “Make your Mark”, hosted by Jeanette and David.
In preparation for the night, we ordered some new varieties of MKM Stamps4Clay. We’ll have a few of them out to sample.
We also heard a rumor that LeRoy Grubbs will be making a special guest appearance with some of his fabulous brass stamps, and there *might* be a special deal on getting your own custom stamp. LeRoy recently made a gorgeous stamp for us at Bracker’s that we’ll be using to create samples of all of our clay bodies, (coming soon to our show room and online!) These stamps make a nice clean impression with beautiful detail.
Got something to say? Try out the letter & number stamps from Chinese ClayArt. Available in a variety of sizes, these plastic letters and numbers give you the opportunity to express your literary skill as well as your creativity!
Or, play with some plaster to create your own impressions. Carve into plaster, then press clay and fire it to create your own designs, or reverse the process to make both negative and positive designs!
Have fun with foam! AMACO’s Balsa foam can be easily carved to create a stamp for soft clay, or made into a screen printing block for use on bisque ware.
Come spend your afternoon with us in our studio space here at Bracker’s! Stop by and try out new tools and toys, ask a question, or just enjoy the company and camaraderie. Everyone is welcome to come and create. We have a slabroller, and extruder and several wheels available, and plenty of tools. (You’re also welcome to bring in your own favorite tools.) Work made from studio clay will be bisque-fired and used for glaze of the month tests. (Please be sure to let us know if you want to be credited as the maker.)
