It started with the wheel.

Our William Bracker Wheel Donation, that is.  But last year, Dave asked me “does it have to be a wheel?  There are a lot of schools that have needs that aren’t a pottery wheel..”  I couldn’t break with tradition and not donate Bill’s beloved Brent wheel, but his words stuck with me, because he’s absolutely right.  Across the country there are schools that are having to make difficult decisions about budget and curriculum.  Unfortunately, clay can often be one of the first things on the chopping block.  So we established

The Good Earth Grant

Last year we gave out about $10,000 in funding, including requests for classroom tools, or consumables like underglazes and glazes, to bigger needs like a kiln vent, an extruder and there were even a couple of remote consults with our kiln tech and the parts needed to turn a “paperweight” into a functional kiln.  We had requests as far aways as California, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin and Texas, and for those schools and a few others outside of our main geographic region, we sent grant checks for them to use at their regular supplier.  In all, we awarded grants to 15 different programs in our inaugural year

This is the easiest grant you will every apply for.  Fill out the form below.  There’s no specific fields or data you need to include because we want to keep this as red tape free as possible.  Just give us your school name, your name, and then tell us what you need and why.  Include as many details or passionate pleas as you like.

Deadline to apply for this year’s round of grants is December 8th, 2022

Decisions will be made and winners notified by December 18th.

We have another $10,000 earmarked for grants and this year we are adding more funding to the pot.  10% of the profits from EVERY SALE during Thanksgiving week (from November 20th up through Giving Tuesday, November 28) will be added to our grant fund.

BUT THERE’S MORE…

On Giving Tuesday, Bracker’s will match gift certificate purchases made for a school.  Details about this to come…..stay tuned.

This grant opportunity will remain open for submissions after the deadline. Applications received after the deadline will be considered on a rolling basis while grant money remains available.
