In case you haven’t heard, Sgraffito tools are on sale for September!  Back in the 70s and 80s, Anne and Bill Bracker were salt-firing potters.  Their primary decoration method included mixing up colored slips, applying them, sometimes in layers to their vessels while still on the wheel and then using a variety of sgraffito tools to scratch through the slips to reveal layers below.  The salt thrown into the kiln would then react with the slips to create a beautiful glassy surface.  There are so many great ways to implement this technique into a variety of work, even without the magic of the salt-firing process.  We are fortunate to have so many different options of sgraffito tools for different purposes and different effects.  Take a look here and then head on over to our online store to fill up your cart.  We’ve even grouped them all into their own scratchy-sgraffito subcategory
