Fred Dreher creates works of art by slip casting. He is constantly searching for the next creative way to use casting slip to produce his work. He’s added Mason Stains to alter the color of the slip. He’s combined and joined cast shapes into something completely new and different. He’s worked with Bracker’s to develop a mid-fire buff stoneware casting slip.
Fred and his wife Bernie have been working with casting slip for a long time and they know the little tips and tricks that can make casting easier and more successful. More and more potters are expanding into slip casting. This Second Saturday will be a great experience for any ceramic artist to learn more about the medium of casting slip, how it differs from potter’s clay, and how it might be integrated into a potter’s regular repertoire.
