Tiles & Textures…

Screen Shot 2015-04-30 at 10.40.10 AM“What’s a tilemaker?”, you might ask.  It’s a fabulous product we’ve actually carried for a while, and an invention of Kansas Potter and art teacher, Dan Gegen.  We are LONG overdue in highlighting all of the fabulous features and uses for the Tilemaker, so of course, we decided to feature it for our monthly Friday Fun video!  If you missed it, you can catch it on our YouTube channel AND you can also catch a special price on the tilemaker as well as the texture slabs and rollers that are also featured in the video.  Click here to browse and buy!

Summer Days – clay collaborations?

Recently, Cindy had an email arrive from an art school administrator looking for “clay studios that might be taking interns for our ceramics students.”  It seems there is at least one “ambitious student who is looking to work with potters/ in vessel construction.”  IMG_4262Cindy’s mind quickly flashed back to last summer when Bracker’s hosted Eric Stearns and Chanda Glendinning for a couple of days while the two of them collaborated on 6 pieces that were cast by Chanda and pierced by Eric.  We had so much fun having them here, that we’d like to do that again this summer and expand the project.  We are excited by the idea of hosting several vessel makers here and providing a space for them to work together and feed off of one another.  Cindy is working on hammering out the details on this opportunity.  If you are interested, drop her a line and let her know!

Second Saturday (and welcome to the team)- Mark Cousino

FullSizeRenderPlease help us in welcoming Mark Cousino into our work-family. Mark is a bundle of energy and smiles, and his BFA from Alfred University and extreme love of all things technical about clay is already making him an indispensable asset here at Brackers!  You can meet and get to know Mark on May 9th at our Free Second Saturday Artist Series!

Workshops at Brackers

We had an absolute blast with Forrest Lesch-Middleton & Adam Field last weekend.  The two of them were one part comedy show, one part pottery workshop and about a thousand parts knowledge & experience.  If you weren’t here, well, we won’t make you feel badly by telling you what you missed out on.  We’ll just invite you to attend our next one.  It will be an interactive, hands-on, workshop.  Sign up now for:

Last month, we asked what brand of kiln you own.  We’ve calculated the result from the entire month of responses and we’re sharing them right here.
