You are warmly invited to join the FHSU Ceramic Students for an Arthur Gonzalez Workshop on February 4 – 6, 2011 at the Fort Hays State University Ceramics Lab, Rarick 123 in Hays, Kansas.

To begin the experience, Arthur will discuss the evolution of his work in a free public lecture at 7:00 p.m. on Friday evening in the Art History Room, Rarick 114. The workshop will begin February 5, Saturday morning and run throughout Sunday afternoon.

The fee for the workshop is $50 per student guest and $100 for adult guests. Please call 785-628-4273 or e-mail to save your spot. Your spot is reserved upon receipt of your non-refundable check made out to Art Sales.

7:00 pm. Slide lecture in Art History, Rarick 114

Saturday, February 5
8:30 a.m. Welcome and continental breakfast
9:00 Introductions and demonstration of hollow forming
Noon Lunch on your own.
1:30 Surface and Form discussion and demonstration
3:00 Hands on experimentation. FHSU will supply white stoneware with grog, if you prefer, please bring your own clay and tools.
3:00 FHSU Graduate Students meet with Arthur for critique.
7:00 Potluck dinner at Linda Ganstrom’s, 206 West 26th Street
Sunday, February 6
8:30 am Continental Breakfast
9:00 a.m. Update on the progress
Continue to work on the figure – form and surface
10:15 Break.
10:30 Detail work on the figure. Discuss mixed media.
Noon Lunch on your own.
1:30 Complete the form and surface.
3:00 Critiques with undergraduates
Hands on work to finish figurative form.
5:00 Review completed work and say our good byes.
