Cindy has about a dozen or more in her studio and is certain you will soon too (if you don't already) GR Pottery Forms are wood drape molds ideal for making dinnerware and serving platters. They are cut and beveled fiberboard which make them durable and economical. Easy to use over and over again giving you a tool to create your personalized shallow objects. Jeff has used them for 10 years to create his production line and now is offering them to you. But remember they are wood so to increase the life of your GR Forms, don't leave them in a wet environment (that includes having clay slumped over them) for more then a few hours. The timing of making them and removing the pieces from the slab is very similar to plaster. Ship really well and can be easily stored in a dry space. No release agent, cleaning or sealing necessary. Try the "Foot Maker" tool to smooth and shape slab feet or edges.

Two Favorites of our founder, Anne Bracker! The Trim Gin was a favorite trimming tool of Anne Bracker's from back in the day, and not just because they came in KU Jayhawk colors of Red & Blue. � Somewhere along the way phone numbers changed (or something happened that no one can exactly remember) so when our stock depleted, it seemed they were gone, and there was great sadness....Years later, Peter Callas was in town jurying the Cone Box show and he mentioned his line of tools...IT WAS THE TRIM GIN TOOLS! And there was great rejoicing as we welcomed Anne's favorite trimming tools, along with Peter's popular Ribs, back into the family of Bracker's Stock. Hovey Brushes are all handmade from bamboo and deertail which is a soft, pliable hair, slightly wavy in texture. It produces a brush tip that has a lot of ‘air’, i.e., it will hold a great deal of material. This makes it great for potters (brushes made for watercolor or calligraphy tend to run dry too quickly when used with slips and glazes). The soft texture of the hair gives the brush a bit of a sensual quality. While this takes some getting used to, it works to your advantage since the brush will follow the compound curves of a pot more easily. Bob Hovey (second image), the maker of Hovey Brushes, spent 9 years teaching art at Columbus State University. For the past 30 years, he has been the Art Director and Editor for WRBL News channel 3 in Columbus Georgia. Creating his handmade brushes is a hobby and passion. In over 30 years of selling Hovey Brushes, we have never their equal. The quality, craftsmanship and sheer beauty of these brushes is supreme. Established in 2003 by Rick McKinney, the initial set of tools sold included the MKM Decorating Disk, a few MKM Throwing Tools, and various types of ribs, which were tools that Rick had developed in his studio for his own personal use, and were not available for sale elsewhere. But it was the Decorating Disk (a sort of universal pottery template) that really launched the business. Rick thought it was a good idea, but didn’t have the ability to screenprint or work with acrylic sheets. So he had a bunch made up thinking he would sell what he didn’t need. Years later, Rick is still selling his Decorating Disk and many other tools through a network of ceramics suppliers like Brackers.

I think there were THIRTEEN businesses who were at least 2 generations, and 3 i think were in their third generation! � He really wanted to find someone to write an article for Ceramics Monthly about it, especially since the making of pottery itself has a deep history of being a generational craft. The second generation of the Giffin Family includes Zack Giffin (second image, on the right, peeking out from behind the guy in front) and often Sam Giffin (third image with Cindy & Sue), both of whom are good friends to our own second generation, Cindy Bracker and the second gen Dolan, Sue. The annual ceramics conference feels more like a family reunion for these youngsters than it does a business event!
