Veronica Watkins – May Featured Artist

On her Second Saturday, Veronica will be demonstrating thrown and altered pieces. Veronica’s Artist Statement: My work reflects a fascination with utilitarian objects. The wonder of pottery is that it has the potential to become the user’s companion each day. It is taken into the home, and into the hand of the user—a very personal space. It is considered many times, and on many levels, both consciously and subconsciously. My formal concerns incorporate the use of both organic curves and geometric shapes. One of Bernard Leach’s laws of pottery form is “Curves for...

March Featured Artist: Raku with the Bracker Crew!

The weather report for this Saturday includes lots of wind and a high chance of rain and thunderstorms. Neither of those conditions are good for raku firing, so we are postponing our Raku Second Saturday until Saturday, March 30th.   Even though we have a new Raku date of March 30th, we will still raku if weather cooperates tomorrow (March 9th) and allows us to fire for a little bit. Due to the popularity of this event, we will limit everyone to two pieces each (maximum). Please Check in up front with Anne W. Bracker upon arrival. Raku History Bisque...

Danny Meisinger, December Featured Artist

Artist Statement: Reflecting on my work as a potter I realize it has changed dramatically. The way I think about my work has also changed. My work as a potter, though extremely enjoyable, is not the totality of who I am. I am first an individual striving to become more deeply human. If someone asks me what I do for a living I reply that I am a potter but I am really much more than that. Ultimately, all that I am influences my work. My family is the most important thing to me and making pottery is a very satisfying way for me to provide for them. I never want to become so consumed by my...
