Kilns
- A.
Electric Kilns
- A "Manual" Kiln has switches (lo-med-hi-off
or 1-10), whereas an "Automatic" kiln has a computer controller.
We sell many more Automatic kilns than Manual kilns to the
average user. This category is divided into Manual and Automatic
kilns and then further divided by interior width of the kiln.
- B.
Gas Kilns
- We represent Alpine and Geil gas
kilns. Use this section only as a brief guideline - if you
are interested in these, they are really custom ordered items
that you should call or email us about. There are TONS of
details to consider before deciding which brand and model
is right for you.

include kiln and wheel specific parts as well as some miscellaneous
items. If you need cone supports or a firing gauge, look in the
Dawson Kiln Sitter Parts section. If you are unsure of the part
you need, call or email us. That's what we're here for
|

it's fired like teapot handles, lotion/soap pumps, wooden utensils,

they "FINISH" the potter.

multi-stem Hake brushes, handmade Hovey bamboo brushes, sponges and

- 11. Lowfire Glazes Cone 06 to 04
- AMACO Lowfire Glazes
- You'll find all of the low-fire AMACO
glazes here, separated by series.
- Duncan Lowfire Glazes
- Amazingly enough, Duncan glazes are also
separated by series! If a glaze is available in different size jars,
you'll find them in different subcategories under that series category.
Duncan has recently discontinued several series of glazes - we're
working on updating the site to reflect that.
- Spectrum Lowfire Glazes
- Yup, you guessed it...Spectrum glazes
are split into categories based on their series, too. Most Spectrum
glazes are available in larger quantities (special orders) like
gallons or 10 pound bags. We don't have everything listed here currently
- just contact us for availability and estimated time. You'll also
find Raised Accent Colors and Crystals in this section.

|
- 14. Underglazes, Slips, and Decoration Products
- AMACO Engobes
- Slips and Engobes are colored, liquid clays
that you can used for raised line decoration as well as sgraffito (scoring
or carving through the colored surface to reveal the clay underneath.
They can be applied to the moist clay or to bisque fired pottery, depending
on the decoration technique used. Most potters use a clear glaze over
these.
- AMACO Underglazes
- AMACO has a huge selection of underglaze
products, from the liquid Velvet series and LUG series to underglaze
pencils, chalks, semi-moist watercolor pans, and semi-moist watercolor
tubes. Underglazes (of any brand) are a great option if you like
to use clay as a 3-D canvas (2-D artists - this is perfect for you!).
- Duncan Underglazes
- Duncan offers a wide variety of underglaze
products from which you can select, such as EZ Strokes, Cover Coats,
and Concepts.
- Minnesota Clay USA Decoration Products
- Underglaze Stamp Pads work well with rubber stamps for multiple impressions. Felt tip markers are great for marking or decoration.
|
- 16. Overglazes
- Overglazes are applied to a fired, glazed
piece and need a third firing (after the bisque and glaze firing) at
a very low temperature (typically in the Cone 022 to 017 range). The
glazed surface softens slightly to allow the overglaze to adhere. This
section also includes Hanovia Metals and Lustres.
|
|
- 18. Nonfired Craft Colors and Products
- Crafty stuff like AMACO Rub n Buff and a
variety of Duncan nonfired acrylic and oil based paints can be found
here.
