Throughout the year, we feature different artists or activities for each of our Second Saturday events. December can be so stressful that we just want everyone to have an opportunity for a little stress relief and fun. And what could be more fun and stress-relieving than playing in clay and trying out new tools? We’ll open up our store and our studio from 10 am to 3 pm on Saturday, December 13th for some special deals and some special treats.

We’ve ordered some special new toys and tools (more about that in the upcoming days) to show off, plus we’ll have extra special prices on potters’ favorites. And we’ll have wheels and a slab roller and an extruder and some clay available for you to try out all the new things. You can even get some assistance from experienced potters if you’re having problems or just need a tip or trick on how to accomplish something you’re struggling to achieve.

And what holiday party wouldn’t be complete without food? Sure, there will be some awesome homemade holiday cookies and treats from our own family tradition, but the item we’ve all been waiting for is the revival of an olde-time Lawrence town specialty, Drake’s Fruitcake!  Drake's FruitcakeAnd seriously, what would December be without fruitcake? Years ago, Drake’s Bakery was located in the heart of Downtown Lawrence and provided the town with all kinds of baked goods, but people remember Drake’s most for their famous fruitcake.  When you taste it, you will understand the slogan, “It’s more than a fruitcake, it’s a confection.” We are excited to share this product from another local, family-owned Lawrence original!  (Learn more about Drake’s Fruitcake here.)

We hope you will join us on December 13th from 10:00 – 3:00 for some food, frolic, fun and other festivities.
