BRACKER'S STORE POLICIES
GENERAL INFORMATION:
Our web site is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 52 weeks a year for your convenience. However, the rest of us need to to sleep occasionally, and play a little (with clay or any number of other fun toys), so our standard business hours are 9 to 5, Tuesday through Friday and 10 to 3, Saturday, Central Time Zone. Feel free to contact us (1-888-822-1982) during those times, however, our busiest days are Tuesday and Saturday. We are closed during standard holidays (sometimes an extra day or two around the holiday). Notice of any upcoming closed days will be posted on our home page as applicable.
We always have a booth at the NCECA conference (National Council on Education for the Ceramic Arts), and might have shortened business hours during that conference week. If you attend the conference, stop by our booth to visit some of us in person.
HOW TO PLACE ORDERS:
Orders may be placed here online or by phone, mail, fax, or e-mail. When picking up an order at Bracker's, in Lawrence, Kansas, please allow sufficient notice for materials that need to be weighed out and assembled.
An outline of how we've organized our online store is located in the FAQ section, under Shopping Questions. You might want to check that section out if you're new to our site. We've tried to organize the site as close to our printed catalog as possible, so those of you familiar with our catalog will feel right at home.
TIPS FOR PLACING ORDERS ONLINE:
The weights of Moist and Bulk Dry Clay, as well as full bags of chemicals, are combined to give you the best price break possible. The software we use for our online shopping cart only figures the best price break for the weight of each item. Therefore, when ordering a lot of raw materials, you will often get better pricing than is shown on screen. We examine each order we receive and adjust for better price breaks personally. We will also correct for those little errors everyone can occasionally make (typos like accidentally entering 49# instead of 50#). If something seems unusual or out of line, we will contact you before shipping your order to get confirmation of the amounts you want.
MOIST CLAY COMMENTS:
Moist clay is packaged in 25# bags, with two bags per box. When entering the quantity you would like to order, please specify the number of pounds you want, not the number of bags or boxes. For example, if I want two boxes of clay, I would enter 100 (for 100 pounds of clay). All prices listed are per pound.
BULK DRY CLAY COMMENTS:
Most of the bulk dry clays are available in 50# or 100# bags (there are a few exceptions, like 55# bags). Please order the number of pounds you want. For example, if I want 3 bags of Hawthorn Fireclay (which comes in 100# bags), I would enter 300. If I want 2 bags of Grolleg Kaolin (which comes in 55# bags) I would enter 110.
SALES TAX:
Sales tax is not charged on orders shipped outside the state of Kansas. This may change if new state or federal sales tax laws are passed in the future (rumors and threats of this happening have been floating around for the past couple of years, but who knows if or when this will happen). If you are in the state of Kansas and have a sales tax exemption number already on file, your first order will show tax. Once we receive it and identify that you are tax exempt, we will enter that in the online database so it applies to your first order and subsequent orders. If you don't think we have your sales tax exemption number on file, please contact us and we'll advise you on how to submit that information for our files.
INFORMATION SPECIFIC TO SCHOOL ORDERS:
If you are ordering for a school or institution, include a purchase order number. In most cases, we cannot do anything with the order when a purchase order number is not given. Some schools now issue purchasing credit cards to their teachers or administrators. As of January 1, 2006, we have eliminated the different price levels for schools and regular customers. Ultimately, this means that you'll get the best Bracker's price available when you order and schools will be eligible for sale prices during our sales. If you have any questions about how this impacts your situation, please contact us. Most schools, as well as other organizations such as PTOs or PTAs are sales tax exempt by statute. Check with your state Department of Revenue if you are unsure. Also as of January 1, 2006, school orders are only exempt when the payment comes from the school (a check or purchasing card issued by the school or district). If you pay for a school order with personal check, cash, or a personal credit card, we will have to charge sales tax. Although we trust you, apparently the government doesn't. Sorry!
CANCELING ORDERS:
If you place an order of items that usually ship within a week or less and wish to cancel it, you must e-mail us within 3 hours of placing the order online or calling us by 11 am, Central Time Zone (1-888-822-1982). On orders of items with a shipping time frame of more than one week, e-mail us or call within 48 hours of placing your order. In all situations, we will try our best to work with you, but some of our manufacturers have penalties for canceling an order. Any order that you attempt to cancel outside of the time frames outlined above will be subject to our discretion. If the order has already been shipped, please see our return policy.
EXCHANGES & RETURNS:
A minimum 15% restocking charge may be levied when the order was filled correctly following the customer's instructions and return is requested by the customer. Please take the time when you receive your order to verify that it is correct immediately upon arrival. If you have a question or problem with any shipped or delivered order, notify us within 10 days of receipt of your order to make appropriate, authorized arrangements for return. A return authorization number must accompany any returns or exchanges. Returns made without an authorized number will be refused. Returns need to be made with the receipt within 30 days for store credit only. No monetary refunds. We reserve the right to determine the validity of exchanges and returns.
PRICING, DISCOUNTS & BIDS:
Based on item and quantity, we have already included generous discounts in our chemical and clay prices.
We also welcome the opportunity to submit competitive bids for institutions and qualified dealers on any or all of the equipment, materials, and supplies for your ceramic needs. Our prices and the availability of materials are subject to change without notification.
